Dan have been involved with the Air Cadet Organisation since 2009. Starting as a cadet before becoming a Staff member in 2015. He currently works for BAE Systems on the F35 Programme.
He joined 969 (St Helens) Squadron in January 2022 as a Civilian Instructor before commissioning in September 2022. After successfully becoming an Acting Pilot Officer he was appointed as Officer Commanding in October 2022. Dan was then promoted to the rank of Pilot Officer after completing his Combined Initial Course at RAF College Cranwell in March 2023.
Matthew has been involved in the Air Cadet Organisation since 2014. Starting as a Cadet and reaching to the rank of Corporal. He currently works as a Joiner around Merseyside
He returned as staff in March 2022 as a Civilian Instructor before becoming an SNCO in December of 2022. His main role on the squadron is to provide recruit training to new cadets and teach the basics of what we have to offer as an organisation. Sgt Hughes is also Second In-Charge when Pilot Officer Moss is away.
Tania has been involved in the Air Cadet Organisation since 2011, she reached the highest rank of Cadet Warrant Officer as a cadet at 969 (St Helens) Squadron and joined the staff team in 2018. Tania works for Knowsley Council supporting schools Management Information Systems.
As one of the Squadrons SNCO's, Sgt Hoose looks to share her knowledge and experience in drill, dress and discipline with the new and future generations of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets.
Sgt Roberts joined St Helens Squadron in January 2016, and reached the rank of Cadet Warrant Officer. Upon aging out, Sgt Roberts joined us as an SNCO; working to improve the standards of Drill, Dress and Discipline on the squadron, along with taking the lead on Military Skills and Fieldcraft.
Sgt Roberts has numerous roles within the wing on the NCO Training and Development Team, the Fieldcraft Training Team and the First Aid Training Team.
Tobi first joined 969 Squadron back in 2012 as a Cadet. He has risen through his cadet ranks to Cadet Warrant Officer before aging out and becoming a staff member in 2020.
He works for the North West Ambulance Service as an Emergency Medical Technician for Paramedic Emergency Services responding on the front line to life threatening emergencies.
Pete has been a part of 969 since 2007 initially as Civilian Committee before shortly joining as a Civilian Instructor after both his Son's were Ex Cadets at 969 Squadron.
Pete has a passion for the Duke of Edinburgh award and has been doing this for the past 10 years. He is also a Climbing Instructor and has the role of Squadron Training Officer. Pete is responsible for Squadrons Activities and Training.
Meg joined 969 (St Helens) Squadron in 2023 as a Civilian Instructor, with a particular interest in sharing her passion for STEM with the cadets.
Meg is currently a student working as a dental nurse, but has a background in scientific research that she hopes to use to support the teaching of the cadets. Combined with a passion for graphic design, Meg has begun producing various logo designs for the flights within our Squadron.
Kerstin has been a part of 969 since 2022 when she joined as a Civilian Instructor.
Kerstin is a Mental Health Advocate and her main role on the squadron is the Adjutant, she is in charge of all the admin and paperwork of the squadron. Kerstin is also a qualified Archery Instructor
Simon joined 969 Squadron in 2018 and has actively supported and delivered squadron activities through Covid-19 and beyond.
Simon shares his duties between his squadron role as a shooting officer and classroom instructor; he is on the wing shooting team as a qualified firearms Range Coordination Officer, coach and safety supervisor, and has been invited to join the national team delivering immersive tech at public events.
Adam has been involved in the Air Cadet Organisation since 2010 when he joined as a cadet serving four years till leaving in 2014, he then became a civilian instructor in 2018 helping with teaching various subjects, followed by a period of leave due to family commitments.
He joined 969 (St. Helens) squadron in May 2023 as a civilian instructor. He currently works as a surveying assistant working up and down the country.
Mike joined 969 Sqn in 1995 initially taking the role of Civilian Instructor. A number of years later he was successful in gaining a commission and subsequently returned to the CI role on retirement.
His interests are outdoor skills development, Duke of Edinburgh's Award and Expedition Training.
Jay first joined the squadron in 2014 as a cadet, during his time as a cadet he rose to the rank of FS before aging out at 20, a year later he re-joined the squadron to give back to the squadron.
Jay works at Knowsley Food Bank and in his spare time volunteers at his local scout group, He is looking forward to getting involved in squadron activities and teaching the cadets the skills he picked up from the organisation
Rachael first joined the Air Cadets in 2011. Rachael climbed through the ranks in her time as a cadet and joined 969 St Helens Squadron in 2018 as a staff member. Rachael currently works in a Nursing Team at a School in Merseyside.
Rachael ensures to pass all her general knowledge and experience she has over to our new cadet generation. Rachael’s main roles on the Squadron are First Aid Officer, Health and Safety Officer and Sports Officer.
Melissa joined 969 Air Cadets back in 2008 as a cadet. Melissa climbed through the ranks, up to FS before ageing out. Melissa then re-joined 969 squadron as a civilian instructor back in 2015.
Melissa had some time away from the squadron to focus on her career and having her little boy, but is now back and looking forward to assisting the cadets to ensure they get the upmost fullest out of their cadet career.
Dave joined 969 (St Helens) Squadron in 2022 as a Civilian Instructor, joining at the same time as his son who is now a first-class cadet. He has been working for Speedy Hire for the past 20 years as a senior leader in the IT department, currently as IT Technical Director.
He is now a qualified RCO (Range control officer), safety supervisor and shooting coach, so we can now run our own range for shooting activities. He is also training to become a Field Craft Instructor, Flight Simulator Instructor a Cyber Instructor.
Ann has been apart of 969 since 2015 when he joined as a Civilian Committee Member before stepping up as Chairman of the Civilian Committee in 2016.
After serving 30 Years as a Police Officer in Merseyside Police, she retired and later joined back as a Radio Communications Officer for the North West Motorway Police Group and has been for the past 12 Years.

Mike has been a part of 969 since 2022 when he joined as a Civilian Committee Member, he recently left the Army after serving for over 26 years, although he now maintains a presence in the Army Reserve.
Mike was an Army Photographer and has documented the Army in various exercises and operations around the world and conducted operational service in Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan. Now he uses his skills with a camera as a Clinical Photographer for the NHS.
Lisa joined 969 (St Helens) Squadron in 2022 as a Civilian Committee member, joining at the same time as her son who is now a first-class cadet.
She is Finance Director and part owner of a rental property business, along with running a small embroidery and sewing business.
